Number of detentions rises in armed brawl that left 3 dead in Üsküdar

Twelve suspects in total have been detained in connection with an armed clash at a coffeehouse in Üsküdar that left 3 people dead and 5 injured, 2 of them critically.

The investigation continues into the armed clash that occurred yesterday evening after approximately 40 people gathered at a coffeehouse located on Özcan Street, Ayazma Avenue in the Ünalan neighborhood, following a dispute between the children of two groups for reasons yet to be determined.

Within the scope of the investigation, F.Ö., who was identified as having been involved in the incident and using a firearm, and the coffeehouse operator C.Y. were initially apprehended.

It was learned that police teams identified and apprehended 7 more suspects involved in the incident, and that 3 people who were injured in the clash and are still undergoing treatment were also detained at the hospital.

Police teams continue to maintain security measures at the entrance of the street where the incident took place to prevent any further negative developments.

Osman Şimşek, the owner of a patisserie located near the coffeehouse where the armed clash took place in Üsküdar, told members of the press that the incident was being portrayed as having happened at his patisserie.

Stating that the incident had nothing to do with his patisserie, Şimşek said, "I arrived after the incident was over, but it was too late. They were saying, 'They got into an armed clash,' but we heard the sounds; they fired 20-30 times. I have been here for about 5 years, and nothing like this has ever happened."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Yesterday evening, following a dispute between their children for reasons yet to be determined, two groups had gathered at a coffeehouse in the Ünalan neighborhood with the participation of family elders.

As the argument escalated, an armed clash that began in the coffeehouse and spilled out onto the street and avenue resulted in 3 people losing their lives and 5 people being injured.

It was learned that 2 of the injured, who were taken to nearby hospitals by medical teams arriving at the scene upon notification, were in critical condition.
