Ogün Samast's father speaks out! He did not go to his family's home

The father of Ogün Samast, who was released from prison the day before after being incarcerated for the murder of Hrant Dink, has spoken. The elder Samast stated that he did not go to pick up his son.

Ogün Samast, who murdered journalist Hrant Dink on January 19, 2007, was released from prison on November 15 after serving a 16-year sentence. It was learned that Ogün Samast, who was released in the evening hours, did not go to his family home in Trabzon.

FATHER AND BROTHER SPEAK OUT

Speaking to Hazar Erdost from 10Haber, father Ahmet Samast said, "I did not go to pick him up. Let him come back the same way he left."

His brother Ümit Samast stated that he did not want to talk, saying, "If you find Ogün, you can talk to him."

VILLAGE HEADMAN SAYS THE FAMILY LEFT THE VILLAGE A DAY EARLIER

According to 10Haber, Çal Camili Village headman Aziz Demir also claimed that the Samast family left the village quietly on November 14, stating, "They didn't tell anyone anything. They didn't come to the village. The police also called and wanted to get information. I told them the same thing. They didn't come, and I don't think they will come."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Agos Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Hrant Dink was killed in front of the newspaper building on January 19, 2007, by Ogün Samast, who was 17 years old at the time. Samast, identified as the perpetrator of the murder, was caught at the Samsun bus terminal on January 20, 2007. Samast, who was arrested on January 24, 2007, was released yesterday from the Bolu F-Type Prison. In a statement made by the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses (CTE), it was stated, "The sentence of Ogün Samast, the convict in the Hrant Dink murder, has been executed in accordance with the general provisions of the Law on the Execution of Penal and Security Measures No. 5275."
