Şükriye Aci, wife of Oğuz Murat Aci, speaks out following claims she 'received 100 million lira in blood money': An extraordinary amount of money

Aci’s wife, Şükriye Aci, who is a complainant in the file, and 4 others injured in the accident submitted a petition stating that they have withdrawn their complaints against both Timur Cihantimur and Eylem Tok.

In the petition for withdrawal of complaint submitted to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office by Şükriye Aci's lawyer, Ahmet Aslan, it was stated that the pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages incurred by Şükriye Aci as a result of this incident were covered by Bülent Cihantimur, the father of the child dragged into crime, Timur Cihantimur, who caused the accident.

"OUR DAMAGES HAVE BEEN COMPENSATED"

The petition stated, "For this reason, the client has withdrawn her complaint against the suspects Ayşe Ceren Saltoğlu, Adem Kızıltepe, Bülent Cihantimur, and Eylem Tok, and there is no request to join the potential trial of the aforementioned individuals regarding the incident subject to the investigation."

It was also noted that the petition submitted by the complainants included the phrase, "Our pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages have been compensated."

Oğuz Murat Aci's father, Özer Aci, stated that they have not withdrawn from the case.

"I WAS IN THE RIGHT BUT ENDED UP IN THE WRONG"

While stating, "No one listened to me; I am the primary party to this case," Şükriye Aci reacted to the criticisms directed at her by saying, "I was in the right, but I ended up in the wrong. I am being subjected to a lot of lynching and slander."

Responding to the allegations that she received 100 million lira to withdraw her complaint against Eylem Tok and Timur Cihantimur, Şükriye Aci said, "This amount is being mentioned because it is the expectation of the person making these claims. We are definitely not talking about such an extraordinary amount of money. I have received in this way the money that is my and my son's right, which we would have received in a compensation lawsuit anyway."

Continuing her remarks, Şükriye Aci said, "Knowing that the case would not be dropped and being aware that the public prosecution would continue, I decided to withdraw from the case in this manner because I have been worn out both by my husband's family and psychologically regarding this issue. But there is definitely no such situation as described."

The statement made by Şükriye Aci through her lawyer, Ahmet Aslan, is as follows:

Following the comments and discussions in the media regarding the withdrawal of complaints by Şükriye Aci, the wife of the late Oğuz Murat Aci, who passed away in the traffic accident that occurred on 01.03.2024 in the vicinity of Davutpaşa Street, Mithatpaşa Neighborhood, Eyüpsultan District, and 4 other people injured in the same accident, a statement has become necessary to ensure the public receives accurate information. First and foremost, we would like to thank the judicial authorities and law enforcement teams who took immediate action following the aforementioned accident, as well as the Ministry of Justice officials who made effective attempts to capture the suspects located abroad and ensure their extradition to our country.

"MOVED TO HER MOTHER'S HOUSE"

We have no doubt that the judicial process will continue with the same sensitivity and fairness from here on out. Following the accident, due to a number of problems she experienced that do not need to be disclosed in detail for now, Şükriye Aci moved to her mother's house with her 1-year-old son, started working to sustain her life, and has had to struggle with many other hurtful issues while the pain of losing her husband at a young age is still very fresh.

At this point, it is important to emphasize that Şükriye Aci, who is the greatest victim of the incident along with her 1-year-old child, learned with concrete evidence shortly after this accident that compensation negotiations were being conducted without regard for her and her child's rights, feelings, and thoughts, and without informing her of any developments. After this stage, she chose to pursue a legal struggle on her own to protect both her own and her son's rights. The concrete evidence that led the client to learn about these events will be presented to the discretion of the public and/or official authorities, as appropriate, if the baseless and hurtful allegations against her continue beyond legal limits.

"THEIR DEMANDS HAVE BEEN MET"

While the criminal investigations into the accident were ongoing and preparations were being made by the people injured in the accident and Şükriye Aci to file pecuniary and non-pecuniary compensation lawsuits, upon the attempt by the family of the child dragged into crime—who is known to be detained abroad—to compensate for the damages resulting from the accident, an agreement was reached as a result of negotiations conducted within the framework of Article 35/A of the Attorneyship Law No. 1136, and the victims' demands regarding pecuniary and non-pecuniary compensation were met.

"CONSISTS SOLELY OF SECURING HER RIGHTS"

Currently, Şükriye Aci and the four people injured in the accident have withdrawn their complaints by submitting a petition to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office through their lawyers. It should be specifically stated that the prosecution of the crimes subject to the investigation is not dependent on a complaint, and the judicial process will continue in line with the legal classification to be made by both the prosecutor's office and the criminal court. Consequently, what the client, who is trying to hold onto life with her young child and whose pain is still very fresh, has done consists solely of securing her rights within the framework of legal limits.

Presenting this development to the public accompanied by deceptive comments such as "the client currently has very good living conditions, drives a late-model car, and everything is perfect personally and familially, yet she acted this way out of greed for money," and framing life insurance payments—which are her legal right—as if they were a favor, is a product of malice. Finally, especially on social media, necessary legal channels will be pursued against those who make hurtful and/or insulting comments without knowing the specific circumstances of our client, who lost her husband at the age of 28 as a result of this tragic accident and is struggling to survive with her 1-year-old child.
