Oğuz Murat Aci's father reacts to Eylem Tok's letter: 'She is creating a perception for the upcoming trial'

Eylem Tok, who fled to the U.S. with her son Timur Cihantimur following the accident in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, on March 1, 2024, in which Oğuz Murat Aci lost his life, has written a letter from the prison where she is being held in Boston.

In her letter, Tok claimed that they had "reached a settlement with the legal heirs and made peace."

According to a report by Büşra Cebeci from Gazete Pencere, a response to Tok's statement came from Oğuz Murat Aci's father, Özer Aci.

Aci said, "She has not made peace with anyone. They gave money to the daughter-in-law and deceived her last year. I suppose it crossed her mind this year because the trial is approaching. She is trying to absolve herself of her sins because it is getting closer."

Pointing to the phrase "legal heirs" in Tok's letter, Aci stated that it was used to create a perception in the public eye that she had "made peace with the grieving family":

"She is creating a perception as if to say to the court, 'I met with the grieving family, we made peace.' But there is no such thing. If you notice, she uses a legal term, 'legal heirs.' I am not a legal heir. The civil laws in our country are like this; they do not accept us as heirs to our child. Only his wife and child can be heirs. They deceived them too, paid them money, and covered up the incident."

Aci stated that the agreement in question was made in May of last year, adding, "She presented it as 'they received compensation for material and moral damages and dropped the lawsuit.' This means, 'I paid the money and made peace.' It is not a reconciliation or anything of the sort," he said.
