Oğuzhan Uğur reacts to Mustafa Varank's visit: 'Rights for you, bans for me'

AKP member Mustafa Varank's visit to a coffee chain on the CHP's boycott list has sparked controversy on social media. Oğuzhan Uğur compared the situation to an incident involving food critic Vedat Milör.

Following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had called for a boycott of certain brands, stating that the media had not sufficiently covered the protests and the primary elections. AKP member Mustafa Varank, who visited an Ankara branch of one of the coffee chains included in this boycott, drew attention by sharing a video from the location.

Varank faced criticism on social media for the video he shared with the caption, 'Things are good here, the youth are happy, the deputies are happy...'

Reacting to the situation, social media personality Oğuzhan Uğur recalled an incident involving Vedat Milör, stating, 'An investigation for "covert advertising" had been launched against Vedat Milör for a video he filmed at a Kent Lokantası... I had said that I personally saw the voice rising in the streets was above party politics. This is the real reason... Rights for you, bans for me.'



WHAT HAPPENED?

In recent months, Vedat Milör visited the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Kent Lokantası in Üsküdar and shared his experience on his YouTube channel. Following this post, the Ministry of Trade launched an investigation into Milör on allegations of 'covert advertising'.
