Okan Buruk gave an exclusive interview to GSTV and apologized for this major mistake he made during the championship celebrations. Buruk said, "There were parts of the celebrations where we went overboard. There were things in this regard that I was uncomfortable with and unhappy about.
As Okan Buruk, I have had an image in the eyes of the public for years. I was saddened that this was affected. I want to apologize. Even if we did not target anyone, mistakes can sometimes happen. It happens with club presidents and players as well. I want to say that I am uncomfortable with this.
We are role models. We must continue to be role models. We must serve Turkish football in the right way. We must be people worthy of Turkish football. I wanted to underline this," he said.
"OUR PRESIDENT SAID WE WOULD DO WHATEVER WE WANT IN TRANSFERS"
Making statements regarding transfers, Okan Buruk said, "Our president said we would do whatever we want in transfers. The Galatasaray team will build a very strong squad.
Thanks to my president, he gave the good news that he will be involved in transfer business with a very strong budget this year. I spoke with Icardi today. He is in very good spirits. He is with his family. He will go to Argentina next week.
After that, he will join our camp in July. Barış Alper will be with us this season as well. We will continue with him," he stated.
"THERE IS NO NEED TO EVEN MENTION MOURINHO"
Expressing his views on Jose Mourinho, who has reached an agreement with Fenerbahçe, and van Bronckhorst, who has taken charge of Beşiktaş, Okan Buruk said, "van Bronckhorst is a name who has been very successful in Europe and has made a name for himself. There is no need to even mention Mourinho.
Two names have arrived who can make people talk about Turkish football in Europe. This is something that motivates us even more. Apart from that, there is a manager like Abdullah Avcı at the helm of Trabzonspor.
Our goal is to emerge from this tough race as champions again. The goal is 25," he commented.
BURUK'S COMMENT ON ERDEN TİMUR'S RESIGNATION
Finally, Okan Buruk spoke about Erden Timur, who left his post at Sportif A.Ş: "Mr. Erden is someone we love. He provided important services for Galatasaray.
We all wanted him to continue. His leaving saddens us. As he himself said, I am also here temporarily, and Mr. Erden is the same—I am saying this because he said it himself, so let there be no misunderstanding.
Our only wish is for Galatasaray's success. He made the decision not to continue, but he will do his best for Galatasaray's success. What matters is Galatasaray.”
