Following the resignation of YRP Erzurum Aziziye Mayor Emrullah Akpunar to join the AKP, Saymaz shared an old video of Akpunar.

In an interview conducted after the local elections, Emrullah Akpunar is seen responding to the question 'Would you change parties?' by saying:

“How many people would stand against the power of the ruling party? One Emrullah Akpunar would. I came from this party, and I will leave from this party.”
