Ömer Çelik accuses Özgür Özel of having a 'Yassıada mentality': Reacts to Kenan Evren comparison

Criticizing the statements of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that he is 'not interested in who will be banned from politics,' Özel compared Erdoğan to Kenan Evren, who led the 1980 coup. Reacting to Özel's remarks about Erdoğan, Çelik claimed that the CHP leader possesses a 'Yassıada mentality.'
Sharing a post on his social media account, Çelik stated the following:
''CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has once again made a statement that will go down in the 'history of non-politics.' Özgür Özel's mention of our President, who has reached every position in his political life through democratic will, alongside coup leader Kenan Evren, shows that he is not even aware of the alphabet of democracy.
Since we transitioned to a multi-party system, the expression that best describes the CHP's political actions against democracy and the national will is the 'Yassıada mentality.' The statements and cruel practices of coup leader Kenan Evren are a copy of the 'Yassıada mentality.' Therefore, if Özgür Özel is looking for information regarding the political tradition that supports those who stage coups against democracy, he should look at his own party's political history. Our President, on the other hand, has repeatedly given historic democracy lessons to this coup-supporting political tradition. If Özgür Özel wants to learn how to fight against the coup-supporting political tradition, he should focus on better understanding our President's political struggle.
Özgür Özel also said that our government has 'fallen from the nation's favor.' It is impossible for Özgür Özel to find time to focus on the voice of our nation while managing the infighting between factions within the CHP. Therefore, it is certain that he will experience the same situation he fell into regarding 'reciting poetry' in this matter as well.
By constantly calling for 'early elections,' Özgür Özel has only trapped himself in an election process between factions within the CHP. While the CHP deals with the infighting of factions, our government, under the leadership of our President, manages all important issues of Turkish and world politics with determination and advances toward its goals with the will of our nation.''
