It has been announced by Istanbul University that the diploma of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu has been cancelled by an administrative decision.

This cancellation process is an interference in the political institution and the right to candidacy, that is, in democracy, contrary to the public interest, which is a mandatory element in all administrative actions.

Politics, which is sought to be designed by the judiciary, has moved to another sub-design phase with the administrative decisions of universities that became dependent following the 80 coup. This situation is a red alert point both in terms of law and for our country's democracy.

As lawyers, we declare to the entire public that we stand by democracy and justice in the face of this lawlessness.

FORMER ISTANBUL BAR ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT ALSO REACTED

Former President of the Istanbul Bar Association, Attorney Filiz Saraç, also reacted to the decision to cancel the diploma of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu with the words, "Democracy has been dealt another blow."
