As discussions regarding the absolute nullity crisis within the CHP continue, the most talked-about topic today has been whether the Group Meeting would take place.
When asked whether an official call for a group meeting had been made by the CHP, TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş received a response from the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu administration stating that no such call had been made and that no meeting would be held.
The elected Chairman of the CHP, Özgür Özel, will hold the group meeting at the TBMM at 13:30.
The hall was filled hours before the meeting. Former CHP Secretary General Önder Sav, who was among those attending the meeting, made important statements to members of the press.
Reacting to the evacuation of the CHP Headquarters by police intervention, Önder Sav stated, "The CHP is a party that has overcome many crises. It was shut down by coups, and its political activities were suspended. It remained below the electoral threshold. There have been leadership races. Many things have happened, but the privacy of the party building was never violated. For the first time, the privacy of the party building was entered by police. It is impossible for those of us who have given years to the CHP to accept this. I served as Secretary General of the CHP for over 10 years. No one should expect me to accept this."
Speaking about the debates regarding the party congress, Sav said that the injunction would not be an obstacle to the congress.
Sav stated, "Sooner or later, the CHP will hold that congress and bring those who are worthy into office."
Regarding the question of a new party, Sav said, "I am not even thinking about that. I do not think that anything can be achieved by ignoring the great CHP. People might be pushed into desperation. But what is important in politics is to create a solution. I believe that solution will be created. As a 70-year CHP member, Önder Sav, I am saddened to be subjected to such questions."
