One of 2 workers trapped under rubble in partially collapsed building in Güngören rescued: Statement from Governor Gül

A collapse occurred in the upper section of a building undergoing demolition as part of urban transformation in Istanbul's Güngören district.
Numerous fire and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
Following the collapse, 2 people were trapped under the rubble, and 1 person was extracted after rescue efforts by fire crews. While fire crews continue their efforts to rescue the other worker trapped under the rubble, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül arrived at the scene to conduct inspections.
"THEY ARE STRIVING TO WORK"
Making a statement on the matter, Governor Davut Gül said, "Today around 15:30, a collapse occurred as a result of demolition work on a building being renewed in Güngören. From the very first moment of the incident, AFAD, the fire department, the district municipality, and UMKE, all organizations arrived, but working in the area is very difficult. Of course, since one of our fellow citizens is trapped inside, our friends are striving to work with the precision of a jeweler to rescue him alive. There is a lot of heavy machinery, many people, and a lot of equipment, but the area to work in is narrow, and this process needs to be followed with patience.
"RESCUE EFFORTS FOR ONE WORKER CONTINUE"
We have taken a look. We were already in contact with our friends. There is no shortage of anything, but we want to reach our citizen as soon as possible. Let us reunite him with his family safe and sound. Get well soon. We do not know where he is right now. Therefore, we have not been able to reach him. We have no information regarding his health status. There is one fellow citizen who was rescued injured earlier. Thank God, his health condition is good. There are 4 other citizens who were working, and they have no problems. A total of 6 people were working. 4 of those 6 people did not experience any issues. One was rescued. Rescue efforts for the other one are continuing," he said.
