Opened fire on police, took taxi driver hostage

The incident occurred around noon in the Araban district. According to the information obtained, Semih Ç. (31), along with his girlfriend Gülbahar Y., threatened taxi driver Ramazan Y. with a pump-action shotgun.

The pair held the driver captive at gunpoint and were driving through the city when police teams were alerted following reports from citizens.

The suspects, who did not comply with the police's 'stop' order, began to flee while moving in their vehicle. Police teams managed to corner the taxi in the Karacaahmet neighborhood. During the tense moments that followed, the suspects opened fire on the police with the pump-action shotgun.

HOSTAGE DRIVER SURVIVED WITH MINOR INJURIES

Thanks to the composure and planned operation of the security forces, the individuals were neutralized and taken into custody in a short time. The driver, Ramazan Y., who was held hostage during the incident, was slightly injured in the finger and was taken for treatment after the initial intervention by medical teams.

At the end of the operation, the moments when police teams fired warning shots into the air, the suspects were taken into custody, and citizens experienced moments of fear were captured on video. It was learned that Semih Ç. and Gülbahar Y., who were taken into custody, were taken to the police station to have their statements taken, and that the judicial investigation into the incident is ongoing.
