Operation against FETÖ's 'marriage' structure

Within the scope of an investigation coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was carried out in 8 provinces, centered in Istanbul, targeting FETÖ's "marriage" structure. 9 suspects were taken into custody during the operation.

In the work carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Branch and Intelligence Branch teams, it was assessed that the organization directed the marriage processes of its members to ensure loyalty and continuity.

The investigation determined that individuals referred to as "marriage coordinators" or "matchmakers" collected and recorded information about candidates. In this context, it was determined that candidate pools were created based on age, education, profession, hometown, family structure, physical characteristics, and organizational status.

According to the findings of security units, these activities were also carried out through groups created on digital platforms. Following the examination of digital materials seized from Merve Daştan, who was taken into custody on May 5 and is considered to be the organization's marriage coordinator, 13 suspects were identified.

Following these findings, simultaneous operations were conducted at 13 addresses in 8 provinces, centered in Istanbul. While 9 suspects were apprehended in the operations, it was reported that other procedures within the scope of the investigation are ongoing.
