Operation against 'residence permit fraud with forged documents' in 8 provinces centered in Istanbul: 64 detained
In simultaneous operations conducted in 8 provinces centered in Istanbul, 64 suspects were detained on allegations of providing irregular residence permits to foreign nationals using forged documents. As part of the investigation, the activities of certain consulting firms have been placed under scrutiny.

Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Migrant Smuggling and Border Gates Branch launched an investigation under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following reports that residence permits were being obtained using forged documents.
Conducting a wide-ranging investigation, the teams analyzed data from the online accounting systems of several companies that claimed to provide "consulting" services. The assessments determined that migrant smuggling activities were being carried out through these companies and that irregular residence permits were obtained on behalf of numerous foreign nationals.
IRREGULAR ALTERATIONS TO DOCUMENTS IDENTIFIED
During the investigation, it was determined that the suspects altered documents used in residence permit applications and prepared documents with false content or entirely forged papers. Furthermore, it was established that public institutions were misled through false declarations and that these methods were used in an organized manner.
OPERATION IN 8 PROVINCES CENTERED IN ISTANBUL
Following the investigation, the teams identified the identities and addresses of the suspects and carried out simultaneous operations in 8 provinces centered in Istanbul in the morning hours. 64 suspects were detained in the operation.
It was reported that the investigation proceedings initiated against the suspects, who were taken to the police station, are ongoing.
