Operation at Ataşehir Municipality: 5 detainees undergo medical check-ups
As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into allegations of bribery and corruption, 18 people, including Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel and his deputies, have been detained. It was reported that 5 of the detainees were taken for medical check-ups.

The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into allegations of "bribery, forming an organization for the purpose of committing crimes, and bid-rigging" regarding tender, zoning, and occupancy permit procedures at Ataşehir Municipality. During simultaneous operations conducted at 45 addresses on April 17, 18 people were detained, and a large number of digital materials were seized.
Among those detained in the operation were Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel, Deputy Mayors Oğuz Kaya and Orhan Aydoğdu, Financial Affairs Manager Mürteza Kutluk, Chief of Staff Alpay Arslan, and managers responsible for construction, licensing, and zoning units, including Aysun Gökçen, Basri Onur Dedetaş, Nimet Karademir, Gülbin Ergünay, and Ezgi Nur Yılmaz.
It was also learned that municipal employees, architects, and company owners were among those detained on bribery allegations. 5 of the 18 individuals were brought to Bayrampaşa State Hospital for medical check-ups.
SOME OF THE DETAINEES UNDERWENT MEDICAL CHECK-UPS
Meanwhile, 5 of the 18 detainees, including Chief of Staff Alpay Arslan, Municipal Police Chief Mehmet Yılmaz, and Licensing and Inspection Manager Basri Dedetaş—who is the brother-in-law of Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş—were brought to Bayrampaşa State Hospital for medical check-ups. Following the medical examinations, the suspects were taken to the Istanbul Police Department.

Following the operation, the press statement issued by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office included the following:
"Within the scope of the investigation numbered 2025/256622 conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; an investigation was initiated against Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel, Deputy Mayors Birkan Birol Yıldız, Orhan Aydoğdu, and Oğuz Kaya, as well as relevant unit heads and personnel, following reports that they received bribes regarding tender, zoning, and occupancy permit procedures. During the investigation process, MASAK reports and HTS records belonging to the suspects were obtained, and findings were reached indicating that transactions were carried out in exchange for bribes in occupancy and building permit procedures. Examinations revealed that bribes amounting to millions of dollars were received from companies operating within the borders of Ataşehir Municipality in exchange for building permits and occupancy procedures, and that the bribes received were distributed according to the position and authority within the municipality. In line with the evidence obtained, simultaneous search, seizure, and detention operations were carried out on April 17, 2026, and a total of 18 suspects were apprehended and detained. Efforts to apprehend 2 fugitive individuals are ongoing. Respectfully announced to the public."
