Operation at Beşiktaş Municipality: 12 detained! Deputy mayor among those held

Within the scope of the "Aziz İhsan Aktaş criminal organization" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention warrants were issued for 12 people, including high-level officials working at Beşiktaş Municipality. Among these names is Deputy Mayor Ali Rıza Yılmaz.
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department carried out simultaneous operations at numerous addresses in the morning hours. While 11 people were taken into custody during the raids, it was reported that search and evidence collection procedures at the addresses are ongoing. The suspects were taken to the police station to have their statements recorded. It was learned that efforts are underway to locate 1 person who has not yet been apprehended.
The statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows:
"Within the scope of investigation number 2024/236201 conducted by our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Aziz İhsan Aktaş criminal organization; it has been decided to conduct search and seizure operations at the residences of 12 municipal officials, including Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Ali Rıza Yılmaz, who were involved in the preparation process of tenders that the criminal organization received from Beşiktaş Municipality and in which bid-rigging was detected, and to detain the suspect individuals."
