Operation at Türkiye Petrolleri: 1 billion lira fuel fraud

Following an investigation launched after an 18,000-ton discrepancy in the fuel quantity reported to the EMRA, three executives of TP Petrol Dağıtım AŞ have been arrested. It was determined that the company's chairman of the board is abroad.

The prosecutor's office launched an investigation after an 18,476-ton discrepancy was detected between the fuel quantity reported to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) by TP Petrol Dağıtım AŞ and the data from the STAR Refinery.

During inspections conducted between October 22-24, it was determined that the figures reported at the facilities in Antalya and Hatay Dörtyol did not match the refinery records. STAR Refinery filed a criminal complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices of Antalya and Hatay, alleging that products invoiced on its behalf were "sold without its knowledge."

1 BILLION LIRA FUEL SHORTAGE

In the investigation carried out by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime teams, it was determined that 4,009 tons of fuel were missing at the TP Petrol Dağıtım AŞ facility in Antalya and 14,467 tons at the Hatay Dörtyol facility.

The total market value of the missing fuel was determined to be 1 billion 52 million 817 thousand lira.

OPERATION AGAINST COMPANY EXECUTIVES

Within the scope of the operation launched following the findings, the company's general manager M.B., former general manager Ç.D., supply manager H.G., and facility manager O.E.C. were detained in Antalya.

In addition, Ş.Z., Ş.H.Z., F.B., and S.U., who were detained in Istanbul, and H.G.K., who was caught in the Fethiye district of Muğla, were released after giving their statements.

3 EXECUTIVES ARRESTED

Among the suspects referred to the courthouse after the completion of police procedures, former general manager Ç.D. was released following questioning by the prosecutor.

General manager M.B., supply manager H.G., and facility manager O.E.C. were arrested by the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace and sent to prison.

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD IS ABROAD

Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that TP Petrol Dağıtım AŞ Chairman of the Board İsfendiyar Zülfikari, for whom a detention warrant was issued, and A.Ç.Y., who was identified as a senior executive at the company, are abroad.
