Operation continues in Antalya: Secretary General arrested
Secretary General Cansel Tuncer, who was detained as part of an investigation into ANSET, a subsidiary of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, has been arrested by the court following her testimony to the prosecutor. Significant developments have occurred in an investigation conducted into a municipal subsidiary in Antalya. Secretary General Cansel Tuncer, who was detained as part of an inquiry launched into the ANSET company under the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, has been referred to the courthouse and arrested.
INVESTIGATION CONDUCTED ON A BROAD SCALE
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, proceedings were initiated against ANSET, a municipal subsidiary that undertakes organizations such as the Golden Orange Film Festival and the Piano Festival. As part of the investigation, detention warrants were issued for a total of 34 suspects, including business people.
It was reported that 27 of the suspects were taken into custody, 2 individuals are currently in prison, 2 are abroad, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining 3.
HIGH-LEVEL NAMES AMONG THE SUSPECTS
Of the 27 suspects referred to the courthouse following police procedures, 14 were arrested. While 11 suspects were released, judicial control measures were imposed on 2 individuals.
It was noted that among the suspects are Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, who was previously suspended and arrested as part of a "bribery" and "extortion" investigation, as well as Secretary General and former ANSET General Manager Cansel Tuncer.
DETAINED IMMEDIATELY UPON DISCHARGE FROM HOSPITAL
It was reported that Cansel Tuncer, for whom a detention warrant had been issued, was taken into custody after being discharged from Akdeniz University Hospital, where she was receiving treatment for health issues. It was stated that Tuncer was referred to the courthouse after her procedures at the police station were completed.
ALLEGED DAMAGES OF 113 MILLION LIRAS
It was stated that the suspects in the investigation file are being charged with "rigging tenders," "bribery," and "laundering proceeds of crime." It was noted that examinations revealed money transfers aimed at laundering proceeds allegedly obtained from crime, and it was determined that a total of 113 million 426 thousand TL in public damages had occurred.
COURT ISSUES ARREST WARRANT
Cansel Tuncer, who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested by the duty judge following her testimony to the prosecutor and sent to prison. It was reported that the investigation is ongoing.
