'Child Obscenity' operation in 19 provinces: 65 suspects apprehended

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that a large number of individuals were apprehended during the 'Sibergöz-48' operations conducted across 19 provinces targeting the crimes of 'Qualified Fraud and Online Child Obscenity'.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced in a post on his social media account that 65 suspects, who had a transaction volume of 11 billion 400 million TL in their accounts, were apprehended in the “SİBERGÖZ-48” operations conducted by the Gendarmerie targeting the crimes of “Qualified Fraud and Online Child Obscenity”. 

Ali Yerlikaya included the following statements in his post: 

"65 suspects, who had a transaction volume of 11 billion 400 million TL in their accounts, were apprehended in the “SİBERGÖZ-48” operations conducted by the Gendarmerie across 19 provinces targeting the crimes of “Qualified Fraud and Online Child Obscenity”! We are on the heels of those who commit qualified fraud using information systems. We will not let them open their eyes. Just as in the Blue Homeland, our virtual patrols are on duty 24/7 in the Cyber Homeland!

Under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command's Department of Combating Cyber Crimes, the “SİBERGÖZ-48” operations were carried out by Provincial Gendarmerie Commands in 19 provinces: Trabzon and Aydın-centered Adana, Ankara, Batman, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Hatay, İzmir, Mardin, Mersin, Sivas, Istanbul, Iğdır, Giresun, Kastamonu, Muğla, Van, and Zonguldak.

TRABZON: As a result of the work carried out by the Trabzon Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Cyber Crimes Combating Branch Directorate with the support of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Department; 33 suspects were apprehended in operations centered in Trabzon and extending to Adana, Ankara, Batman, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Hatay, İzmir, Mardin, Mersin, and Sivas, who were determined to have gained unfair profit by defrauding our citizens with the promise of "High Returns in the Short Term" via social media applications.

AYDIN: As a result of the work carried out by the Aydın Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Cyber Crimes Combating Branch Directorate; 9 suspects were apprehended in operations centered in Aydın and extending to Istanbul, Iğdır, and Mardin, who were determined to have:

Used the personal information of people they befriended through fake accounts created on social media platforms to generate fake lawsuit, settlement, and enforcement documents,

Sent these documents to citizens along with lawyer identification information, and gained unfair profit by defrauding our citizens under the names of "Attorney Fee, Case Closing Fee, or Settlement Fee".

Additionally, in operations conducted by the Cyber Crimes Combating Branch Directorates of the Adana, Ankara, Eskişehir, Giresun, Istanbul, İzmir, Kastamonu, Mersin, Muğla, Van, and Zonguldak Provincial Gendarmerie Commands;

23 suspects were apprehended who were determined to have committed the crime of "Online Child Obscenity" by storing sexually explicit photos and videos of children on their computers and sharing these videos.

As a result of the operations: A large number of computers, phones, SIM cards, portable memory devices, bank/credit cards, and cold crypto wallets were seized.
