Operations continue: Gendarmerie seizes large quantities of narcotics in 23 provinces

In gendarmerie operations carried out nationwide over the last two weeks, millions of narcotic pills and hundreds of kilograms of narcotics were seized, while hundreds of individuals were taken into custody. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the operations will continue with determination.

In meticulous operations conducted by gendarmerie teams across 23 provinces, 6 million narcotic pills and 270 kilograms of narcotics were seized within the last 14 days. A total of 521 people were taken into custody during the operations, with 177 suspects arrested and judicial control measures imposed on 91 suspects. Proceedings regarding the other suspects are ongoing.

Within the scope of the investigations, it was determined that the suspects were carrying out drug trafficking in an organized manner using social media and messaging applications. In line with the investigation conducted by judicial authorities and under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command's Department of Anti-Narcotic Crimes, 414 gendarmerie personnel serving in 46 different narcotics and public order teams carried out detailed raids in Afyonkarahisar, Ağrı, Aksaray, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bitlis, Bursa, Hakkari, İstanbul, İzmir, Karabük, Kastamonu, Konya, Malatya, Manisa, Muğla, Sakarya, Samsun, Tekirdağ, Uşak, and Van.

OPERATIONS CONTINUE UNINTERRUPTED

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement made via social media, pointed out that the operations carried out in 23 provinces were conducted with a spirit of mobilization. Minister Yerlikaya stated, "In our operations against drug dealers in 23 provinces, which have been ongoing for the last two weeks by our gendarmerie, we have seized 6 million narcotic pills and 270 kilograms of narcotics. We have apprehended 521 suspects. 177 of them have been arrested. Judicial control provisions have been applied to 91 of them. The proceedings for the others are continuing. Our war against drugs is a multi-layered, multi-dimensional, and determined mobilization. We are breaking every link of the chain one by one with major operations, from the ringleader to the manager, from the producer to the street-level dealer. I congratulate those who contributed," he said.
