The hotel owner and a hotel employee, who were previously released under judicial control as part of the investigation into the deaths of a mother, father, and their 2 children in Fatih due to suspected 'poisoning,' have been arrested following the issuance of arrest warrants for them.
The Böcek family, who came to Istanbul from Germany for a vacation and stayed at a hotel in Fatih, had fallen ill and were taken to the hospital. Mother Çiğdem Böcek (27), father Servet Böcek (38), and their 3-year-old daughter Masal and 6-year-old son Kadir Muhammet Böcek lost their lives. Police teams conducting an investigation at the hotel determined that pest control had been carried out at the premises. Following the investigation, 7 suspects were taken into custody and referred to the courthouse after their statements at the police station. After their statements to the prosecutor, suspects H.O., D.C., M.M.U.D.C., R.B., S.K., and Z.K. were referred to the duty magistrate with a request for arrest on charges of 'causing death and injury by negligence,' while one person was referred with a request for judicial control.
The magistrate issued arrest warrants for pest control company owner Z.K., pest control company employees D.C. and S.K., and hotel employee M.M.U.D.C. on charges of 'intentional killing and injury.'
Hotel owner H.O. had been released under judicial control in the form of house arrest, while hotel employee R.B. had been released with a travel ban. M.K., who is a street vendor, was also released under judicial control.
As the investigation continued, arrest warrants were issued yesterday for hotel owner H.O. and hotel employee R.B., who had previously been released under judicial control. The suspects were taken into custody and referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest following their procedures at the prosecutor's office. The court ordered the arrest of the 2 suspects, and they were sent to prison.
