CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to Erdoğan using his pardon authority for Hezbollah members.

Addressing Erdoğan in a speech he gave in Trabzon, Özel said, “‘One cannot prosper through oppression.’ The end of such oppression is disaster. Do not drag this country into disaster.”

Özel stated, “Stop oppressing the young children of this country. Do as much evil as you want, you will be defeated by this goodness, by the tears of mothers, and by the prayers of grandmothers; you will be defeated, you will be defeated, you will be defeated!”

Özel's statements are as follows:

“The President's use of the pardon authority for health reasons is a right defined in the constitution. We thought that today, the president would see what has been happening in recent days, see the tearful mothers... At the very least, there are objections to arrests; we thought if he expressed his intention, if he said, 'It would be good for the youth to return to their homes for the holiday,' those acting under his instructions would do what is necessary.

But unfortunately, instead of reuniting those innocent, clean children who have no blood on their hands with their families, he chose to pardon those who have blood and filth on their hands, the 'pig-tie' killers, on this holiday.”

We say this much to Erdoğan... 'One cannot prosper through oppression.' The end of such oppression is disaster. Do not drag this country into disaster. Stop oppressing the young children of this country. Do as much evil as you want, you will be defeated by this goodness, by the tears of mothers, and by the prayers of grandmothers; you will be defeated, you will be defeated, you will be defeated!”
