Özel to Bahçeli: If he is not satisfied with his alliance, he can join us

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli's statement that an alliance between the AKP and the CHP is the sincere wish and desire of the MHP has hit the political agenda like a bombshell.

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli said the following in a written statement he released:

The realization of a broad-based alliance between the AK Party and the CHP, with the support of the other elements of the six-party table, is the sincere wish and desire of the Nationalist Movement Party. If the Nationalist Movement Party is perceived and described as a barrier to the sustainability of the ordered atmosphere of normalization and softening, and if a broad alliance has been formed on this matter, the responsibility that falls upon us is to be ready to make every sacrifice for the sake of our country and our nation, and to do what is necessary with peace of mind.

'IF HE IS NOT SATISFIED, HE CAN JOIN US'

A response to Bahçeli's 'alliance' remarks came from Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel.

Responding to journalists' questions as he left the Workshop for Families of Martyrs and Veterans in Istanbul, Özel said, "Let me extend an invitation to Mr. Bahçeli. If he is not satisfied with his alliance, he can join our alliance. The name of our alliance is the 'Turkey Alliance'. There is no need for him to propose an alliance with another party to the CHP. Let him come and join the Turkey Alliance. They would have a difficulty here, though. In our alliance, for example, we would not ask for favors to make the spouse of one of our deputy chairmen a member of the Court of Accounts. We talk about the fact that the lowest pension should be at the level of the minimum wage, and we fight for this," he said.

'BAHÇELI SHOULD NOT PUSH HIS ACCOMPLICE ONTO US'

Stating that there are problems within the People's Alliance, Özel used the words, "No one should propose an alliance or anything to us. Because those responsible for today will bear this responsibility. Mr. Bahçeli should not take the easy way out; he should not bring the country to this state and then push his accomplice onto us."

'RESPONSE TO THE EARLY ELECTION QUESTION'

The CHP leader also responded to a question about early elections, saying, "That is Mr. Bahçeli's area of expertise; ask him. If he calls for an early election, we will evaluate it."

SHARP REACTION FROM MHP'S SEMİH YALÇIN

MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın reacted sharply to Özgür Özel's statements on his social media account.

Stating that the CHP leader targeted himself and İzzet Ulvi Yönter, Yalçın noted the following in his post:

'YOU HAVE LOWERED YOUR ALREADY LOW LEVEL EVEN FURTHER'

Özgür Özel, you avoided answering our questions about the CHP's political collaborations and kicked the ball into touch, talking about not stooping to our level in your mind. You have already lowered your already low level by directly targeting MHP Executive Board members—without even having the courage to name them. You are not acting like the chairman of a political party, but like a Celali ringleader demanding heads from the Sultan, like a warlord. However, you are wasting your breath. If you think you will intimidate us with fake bravado, you are mistaken. Since you have left aside your work and the politics that would benefit the country to deal with us, it means you are genuinely afraid of us, you are trembling. You are just like cowards who shake their fists when there is no danger. Your insolence in interfering in the internal affairs of the MHP is also an extra... You should first try to solve the problems within your own party. You cannot cover up your internal party conflicts, which have been pushed aside in the wind of the Local Elections, by attacking us and dealing with us. There are such types in your party that they undermine you bit by bit. Then you look and see that your seat has gone from under you. But because of the arrogance and pride you have fallen into these days, your feet have left the ground. Your arrogance and vanity have blinded you. You cannot see the facts. There are three things that ruin a person in life, Özgür Özel... These are; cowardice, pride, and anger. You have all three of them. Cowards; use lies, slander, and mud as weapons. Cowards; exploit emotions, they devilishly provoke sensitivities. When you go after them, they get angry quickly. That is exactly who you are. You are exploiting a heinous murder and using it as an ingredient for your dirty politics.

'WE WILL NOT HESITATE TO PUT YOU IN YOUR PLACE'

You are winding up some people's springs, provoking their sensitivities. You are becoming uglier and more despicable every day. If you continue to attack us without knowing your place, we will not hesitate to put you in your place with great pleasure. We will not be left under your hypocritical posturing and wordplay. We will treat and address you in the manner you deserve. We are here; you go ahead, continue like this! Challenge accepted! Özgür Efendi; you will also see in time whether your delusions, which purposefully target myself and my colleague İzzet Ulvi Yönter, have any karşılık in the eyes of the nation.
