Following the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, CHP members gathered in Esenyurt to protest the trustee appointed in his place. CHP members, who started a Democracy Watch under heavy police presence, were prevented from entering the Esenyurt District Headquarters building.

A scuffle broke out between police teams and the crowd. CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik made a press statement along with the party members accompanying him.

Çelik used the following expressions:

"At every stage, we have been blockaded along with our party members, and our entry to the CHP District Building has been obstructed. All of these are crimes. We will intervene in these legally. We declare once again that we are against trustees all across Turkey. Our Democracy Watch will continue in Esenyurt at 17:00."
