CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik announced that Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, who was detained yesterday, along with the bureaucrats and municipal council members accompanying him, are being held in cells filled with the smell of drugs in the basement of the Vatan Police Headquarters.

Bayrampaşa Municipality was added to the latest wave of operations targeting CHP-run municipalities yesterday morning.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office decided to detain 48 people as part of an investigation launched on bribery charges.

Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, who was detained yesterday morning, was taken to the Vatan Police Headquarters.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik announced the latest situation of Mayor Mutlu and those detained with him at the police station.

"THEY ARE BEING HELD IN A CELL THAT SMELLS OF DRUGS"

Posting on his X account, Çelik wrote that Mutlu, along with his bureaucrats and municipal council members, are being held in the basement of the police station in a cell that smells of narcotics.

"THEY CANNOT TAKE THEIR MEDICATIONS"

Çelik stated that Mutlu is not being given any food other than 'mayonnaise spread on dry sandwich bread' and that those in custody cannot take their medications because they are not being fed properly.

“This is called the law of the enemy; this is called torture,” said Çelik, adding, “We remind you that both giving and carrying out unlawful orders is a crime.”

“Our Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, our municipal bureaucrats, and our council members are being held in the basement of the Vatan Police Headquarters in cells filled with the smell of narcotics.

They are not being given any food other than mayonnaise spread on dry sandwich bread.

Because they are not being fed properly, they cannot take their medications, and their health is being negatively affected.

They are being psychologically worn down for days before being brought before the prosecutor in an arbitrary manner.

This is called the law of the enemy.

This is called torture.

We remind you: Both giving and carrying out unlawful orders is a crime.

We will take all necessary initiatives, including at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, against the crimes committed during this process.”
