Warning from Özgür Çelik to AKP: 'They are using Bahçeli for their own interests' – A reminder of the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process

The hearing for the case involving 10 detainees, including the deputy mayors of Kartal and Ataşehir municipalities who were arrested as part of the "City Consensus" investigation, has been postponed.

The court decided that the defendants will remain in custody.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik reacted to the decision.

"AKP WANTS TO USE THE PROCESS FOR ITS OWN INTERESTS"

Stating that "The AKP wants to use the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process initiated by MHP leader Mr. Devlet Bahçeli for its own interests," Çelik said the following on his social media account:

"Enough is enough! Either be as you appear, or appear as you are! Yesterday they were lamenting for Sırrı Süreyya Önder, and today they call the HDK he founded a terrorist organization.

That is not enough; they call the election of Kurdish citizens of the Republic of Turkey to municipal councils from CHP lists a terrorist act.

Our people should know the reason for this contradiction: The AKP wants to use the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process initiated by MHP leader Mr. Devlet Bahçeli for its own interests.

The need is not political, but moral and urgent: The process for a terror-free and democratic Turkey must be conducted in a sincere, transparent, and selfless manner. This shadow play that leaves innocent people to rot in prison must come to an end. If they cannot do it, let them bring the ballot box, and our nation will solve the issue."
