CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik reacted to comments made about Turkey by Harold Hamm, known as a US oil billionaire, in an interview with Fox News.

In the interview, regarding the imprisonment of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Hamm stated, “These things happen in third-world countries.

You know, you throw your opponents in jail and take care of them.

Sharing those images on his X account, Özgür Çelik wrote:

"The codes for an American-backed coup attempt are in this statement.

This global vampire, who calls Turkey a third-world country and wants Ekrem İmamoğlu to remain in prison, will conduct oil drilling to exploit our national resources.

The AKP government has served our country to the Trump administration and its close oil baron Harold Hamm on a silver platter as if it were a colony.

Our struggle for democracy is, at the same time, our struggle for a fully independent Turkey.
