Özgür Demirtaş reveals the intent behind the 'no price hikes for electricity and natural gas' announcement: 'A trick'

Economist Özgür Demirtaş, who frequently makes significant observations about the current agenda and highlights the country's economic situation through his social media posts, has now shared his thoughts on Minister Bayraktar's announcement regarding price hikes.

Pointing out that the announcement that there will be no price hikes until the end of the year is not a step taken with the citizens' interests in mind, Demirtaş described the move as a "trick" and suggested that the intention behind the statement is to keep the upcoming minimum wage increase low.

Minister Bayraktar had used the following expressions in his statement:

"We are taking measures for supply security. We have significant support regarding prices. We do not foresee any increases for the winter. We are acting by taking inflation into account, especially regarding 2025," 

DEMİRTAŞ POINTED TO THE INTENT BEHIND THE ANNOUNCEMENT

Economist Özgür Demirtaş made a post on his social media account and commented on Minister Bayraktar's announcement of no price hikes as follows:

"A scheme, a trick to show inflation as lower than it is this year and to give a SMALL raise to wages at the beginning of the year!"
