Özgür Özel addresses Erdoğan from Amasya: I am telling Mr. Tayyip, the nation's will shall prevail; you will go, and Ekrem İmamoğlu will come

Following the operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), the CHP held its weekly 'Defending the National Will' rally in Amasya this week. Speaking at the rally, Özgür Özel addressed Erdoğan regarding the recent detentions.

Eleven people, including Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek, Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, and Büyükçekmece Deputy Mayor Ahmet Şahin, have been detained as part of various investigations.

Özgür Özel responded to the ongoing operations at the 'Defending the National Will' rally in Amasya.

The message from İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained at the Marmara Prison in Silivri, was read to the crowd gathered in Amasya.

EKREM İMAMOĞLU'S MESSAGE

The message sent from Silivri by CHP's Presidential Candidate and İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was read by Amasya CHP Provincial Chair İlker Küp. The letter from İmamoğlu stated the following:

"The city of princes, established on both banks of the Yeşilırmak, the legendary and epic Amasya, the people of Amasya who do not bow down, do not bend, and do not trade their honor and dignity for any position in the face of injustice; I carry everything related to the culture of this ancient city in my heart. I know the population is decreasing. Young people are migrating from rural areas. An underdeveloped economy is stealing our hopes. But I know one more thing. Change has begun. The success story you wrote in the 2024 elections was not just a result, but also a beginning. This momentum gained by the CHP is not just at the ballot box, but a bridge built into the hearts of the people. The high marks received by the Amasya Municipality under the leadership of our mayor Turgay Sevindi are a reflection of this understanding.

We set out not just to govern Turkey, but to repair, develop, and improve it. I am writing these lines as your brother who has been deprived of his freedom. This darkness will pass, and this country will breathe again. Because you are here, because we are here.

Everything will be very beautiful."

Following the reading of İmamoğlu's message, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel began his speech.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL ADDRESSED THE CROWD FROM AMASYA

Özel began his highly anticipated speech in Amasya. Taking the stage amidst slogans, Özel said, "Brave Amasya, the symbolic place of the National Struggle, where Ferhat pierced the mountains and Lokman Hekim distributed remedies, hello to you all. Today, we have come to seek refuge in the conscience of Amasya and to draw strength and courage from Amasya."

Özel continued his speech with the following words:

"Those who were not afraid founded this country. You will also save it from the situation we are in. When I stepped into Amasya, I was greeted by the photos of our next President Ekrem İmamoğlu, whom they put in prison because they feared him and the coup attempt on March 19, and my brother Ferdi, whose accident left us all in mourning. Wherever we go in Turkey, they send greetings to Ferdi's family. I also thank all our conscientious people here.

Today, there are cities whose will is being attempted to be usurped, just like Istanbul. We are watching Adana, Adıyaman, and Antalya with their packed squares. Greetings to you; we are one, we are together, we are in solidarity.

I am filled with the joy of our brother Turgay Sevindi winning Amasya after exactly 47 years. I congratulate him. I thank our provincial chair İlker Küp, in the person of our entire provincial organization, who contributed to these successes.

1,333 TIMES THE NEED OF AMASYA WAS SPENT

There is a government that has recently lost its connection with the people and has fallen from the eyes and hearts of the public. A frost occurred in agriculture just in April. Amasya is a province affected by this frost in many ways. We brought it up in Parliament that week. We talked about it in the agriculture commission, and damage assessments were made. 4.5 billion is needed.

The producer's loss will be compensated with this resource. Amasya was ignored, and the farmer was left to their fate. The money needed that day was 4.5 billion liras.

However, 6 trillion liras were spent to carry out the March 19 coup and, in return, to restrain the stock market and suppress interest rates. 1,333 times the need of Amasya was spent.

I am addressing the AKP and MHP supporters listening to us here. They cannot find money for your needs, but they find 1,300 times that amount for their own government.

You support them, but when they see the government, they turn their backs on you. I call on the AKP and MHP supporters of Amasya to support the people's government that will think of them instead of this cruel government."

"THERE ARE THOSE WHO WANT TO DEFY THE NATION"

In Amasya, we have received 7 percent and 20 percent of the vote. In the last election, our nation wanted it, and we received the votes of almost one in every two people. Amasya is protecting the future of its youth.

Our friends have been detained for 108 days. They attempted a coup on March 19, and we called Istanbul to Saraçhane. We exceeded 1 million in the night rallies. We went to Maltepe and saw 2.2 million. We went to Thrace, and we went to Anatolia. The nation is defending its will. There are those who try to usurp the national will. There are those who want to take sovereignty from the nation and transfer it to the judiciary, those who want to defy the nation. The nation says 'Zeydan will govern Adana,' the prosecutor says 'No.' Abdullah will govern Adıyaman, the prosecutor says 'No.' The boss is the nation; whatever the nation says, that happens.

Abdullah Tutdere was our deputy; an earthquake occurred. He buried his brother, sister-in-law, and their baby with his own hands and ran to the wreckage. I didn't send him; the mothers who sang laments in Turkish and Kurdish nominated him. In Antalya, Muhittin Böcek became the first person in history to win twice in a row. They put these in one scale and release a crime machine named Aziz İhsan Aktaş. I didn't say it; the prosecutor, the leader of the criminal organization, said it. Look, when asked who he worked with, when AKP and MHP members say it, they say 'Skip that.' They are digging into his relationship with the CHP. They say, 'If you say what I want, you can get out.' They are doing the work of the Court of Cassation, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, electricity distribution companies, Pamukkale and Uludağ Universities, Turkish Airlines, city hospitals, AKP metropolitan municipalities, and more than 40 district municipalities. They are putting everyone in jail because they received a tender from ours. They don't ask an AKP official a single question. There is no crime. There is no corruption investigation. There is only slandering the CHP through a crime machine.

I am telling Mr. Tayyip, the nation's will shall prevail. You will go, and Ekrem İmamoğlu will come.

Today was the 10th of Muharram. I am saying this while looking into the eyes of the people of Amasya, who live with Alevis and Sunnis, with faith, and with love for Atatürk in their hearts. Erdoğan said they wouldn't be able to look each other in the face. Tens of thousands came out in Amasya, and I am telling them: There is not a single piece of evidence; our friends are innocent. History will prove us right. We are clean; you are liars. I am telling everyone in Turkey watching on their screens. There is slander, there is a violation of rights, there is reaching out to the honor and dignity of our friends' families. We are by their side. Turkey is now at a crossroads. All politics is under threat. A handful of people have sworn to rule the country through tutelage. Everyone who wants to do politics as it was done before is in danger. This struggle is a struggle to protect the ballot box."

No order that does not have the consent of the nation is legitimate. Come with your slanders and lies, your secret witnesses, your indictments. You will not be able to stop us. You will not be able to hinder Turkey. In Amasya, we are one and together with Alevis and Sunnis. There is no salvation alone; either all together or none of us.

"THE ERA OF MINISTERS' CHILDREN WILL END"

This place is now a place where democracy has a share. They founded a party, entered elections for 23 years, and won. Fine, all the best. The nation voted, the nation respected it. We didn't say a word for 47 years. There came a day when they staged a coup against our rival, and we stood by the Parliament. Forget 47 years, they couldn't endure this for 47 days. You should look at whether a political movement is democratic not on the night it wins, but on the night it loses. These are called sore losers. Whether you burst or explode, the nation has made its decision. It will also bring it to an end. Gazi Mustafa Kemal's party is Turkey's leading party. (Slogans of 'We are Mustafa Kemal's soldiers' were chanted)

Now, those who do not receive the nation's message, who do not understand, who do not draw lessons, are still dealing with the nation. Retirees are experiencing the most difficult days in history. How much was a quarter gold in 2002, and how much was a retiree's pension? That day, you could buy 8 quarter gold coins; now you can buy 2.5. Every retiree has lost 6 quarter gold coins from their pocket, and every minimum wage earner has lost 4 quarter gold coins per month. This is missing from the cheese on your table, the minced meat in your pot, and the hole in the sole of your shoe. The era of ministers' children will end. The era of the nation's children will begin.

They will increase the SCT by 45 percent, but they will give the retiree 16 percent. We did all the calculations and submitted a proposal for the lowest pension to be 30,205 liras and for a flat raise of 16,000 liras for civil servant retirees. They say, 'We will go on vacation after the 15th.' Where are you going when the nation is in this state? The nation has a wound. Those who rub salt into the nation's wound cannot go and enter salty water."
