Özgür Özel announces CHP's next goal! A striking detail about alliances...

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel evaluated the victory his party achieved in the March 31 Local Elections.

Stating that the CHP has become the leading party for the first time since 1977, Özel said, "I would like to underline that the importance we place on measurement and evaluation played a huge role in this. We clearly saw in these measurements that Kilis, Kastamonu, Kırıkkale, Zonguldak, Adıyaman, Afyonkarahisar, Bursa, Balıkesir, Manisa, Denizli, and Uşak were winnable, and that is exactly what happened."

Speaking to Başak Kaya from Sözcü, Özel said that they will return to the field after the holiday and will thank Turkey, starting from the provincial centers they won.

"CHP-run municipalities will govern 62 percent of Turkey's population and nearly 80 percent of Turkey's economy. Our responsibility is much greater. We will work very hard to live up to this," said Özel, continuing as follows;

"We will establish a Local Government Coordination, Audit, and Training Unit within our Headquarters. Under the leadership of our legendary Mayor Yılmaz Hoca, who turned Eskişehir into a paradise, we are establishing a unit that will include experienced mayors, Court of Accounts auditors, and Ministry of Interior inspectors.

We will recommend the popular projects of our municipalities to all our municipalities and deliver ready-made projects. We will open project pools for each other's use. We will also audit our municipalities. We will conduct an audit as strict as state oversight but with a conscience. We will not forgive those who make mistakes. If a citizen regrets the vote they cast, I will be embarrassed and will not be able to ask for their vote again."

HE ANNOUNCED CHP'S NEXT GOAL

Özel also said the following regarding his goal in the upcoming Presidential election:

"We won the municipalities and we will not make mistakes. We will show how the CHP governs through social municipalism. We will not forgive those who make mistakes. We will not be arrogant. I will not be someone who forces, suppresses, or imposes self-centered decisions in any decision regarding the future of the party and the country for my own ambitions. We will do it with polls, we will do it by asking our members, we will do it by asking the public.

Whether determining candidates or setting the election date, or deciding who we will form an alliance with and who we will not, we will not deviate from science, and we will not be caught up in ambition. We have learned to win now. Hopefully, next time, we will be a party that has won the Presidency."

Noting that 80 percent of the voters who went to the polls in the local elections voted for opposition parties and 56 percent voted for the CHP, Özgür Özel said, "We won the election with teamwork."

Özel continued as follows;

"There is no complacency, no intoxication of victory. We will start working quickly after the local elections. We do not see this as the first week of emerging as the 1st party from the election, but as the first week of preparation for the next election. We won these elections with teamwork. In the coming process, they will try to make it look like there is a problem between the Headquarters and the mayors. However, we will continue to play as a team, win together, and struggle together. We are ready to achieve again in the second century of the Republic the successes our party achieved in the first century of the Republic."
