Özgür Özel at the Veterans Association: The biggest reason for my visit is Bahçeli's statements

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited the Turkey Veterans Association.

In his speech there, Özel evaluated the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli to PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Recalling that he had stated that if a social consensus is to be reached, it must be discussed in Parliament, Özel said that he cares about the thoughts of 'martyrs' families and veterans' on this issue.

Using the phrase, "The biggest reason for my visit is Bahçeli's statements," Özel said, "The sensitivities of martyrs' families and our veterans must be taken into account."

TENSION BETWEEN ALİ YERLİKAYA AND CHP DEPUTIES

Speaking about the tension between CHP deputies and Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Planning and Budget Committee today, Özel said, "Our deputies wanted to carry out a protest, but there was some pushing and shoving. A scene of a scuffle emerged. There was no intervention or fistfight. If there were such a thing, I would of course apologize immediately. They only wanted to stage a protest."

Özel continued: "The scuffle issue was also partly due to the minister's impatience. If there is to be an apology, it should be for Abdullah Güler's misleading information to the public. The opposite of the ugly scene in Esenyurt has been experienced. Experiencing this is also valuable."

GÜLER HAD DEMANDED AN APOLOGY

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler had reacted to the events that took place before the Ministry of Interior's budget negotiations, stating, "I want to express that we expect CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel to take the necessary stance, and we expect an apology."
