Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at the opening ceremony of the Spil Children's House in Manisa.
Noting that CHP-run municipalities carry out their work with an approach that looks out for the poor and puts the people at the center, Özel criticized the government's economic policies.
Criticizing the new minimum wage, Özel said, "For the first time in the new year, money was not put into the worker's pocket, it was taken out." Noting that the minimum wage of 22,104 liras can only buy 4.5 grams of gold today, Özel stated, "The real inflation for minimum wage earners is 80 percent."
Reacting to the fact that the minimum wage increase was calculated based on target inflation, Özel said that a legal regulation is absolutely necessary for the lowest pension payment.
Addressing AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Özel said, "If there is no livelihood, there will be an election."
