Özgür Özel calls out to Hamza Dağ in İzmir: 'Call Tayyip Bey immediately!'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel answered questions from members of the press in İzmir. Following a question, Özel addressed People's Alliance and AKP İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Hamza Dağ.

POLL QUESTION

In response to a question from members of the press, "You previously said you were winning 25 districts and were neck-and-neck in 5. What is the latest situation?", Özel replied as follows:

"The biggest poll will be conducted on March 31. As the election approaches, talking about polls is aimed at directing the voters. I can say that I have not seen a worse poll since my last assessment, and every poll I have seen is trending better. We will achieve a great success in İzmir on March 31. We will realize the change and transformation that İzmir expects. Our mayors who served before this have done more than their part in terms of conventional municipalism. These mayors are mayors who could reach high satisfaction rates in any geography of Turkey."

"CALL TAYYİP BEY IMMEDIATELY"

In his speech, Özel evaluated People's Alliance and AKP İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Hamza Dağ. Özel stated the following:

"Have I taken off my badge in a panic? Have I thinned my mustache in a panic? Have I run away from my chairman's picture in a panic? Have I said 'I am not actually one of them, I am like you' in a panic? While I was the person who most strongly defended the alcohol ban and the time restrictions in Parliament on the days when alcohol bans were imposed until yesterday. Did I enter the streets where the taverns are and have clips filmed in a panic? I don't know if I talk about Hamza Dağ a lot, but he wants to talk about me a lot. He misunderstood me; I am not the chairman who says 'call immediately,' it is your own chairman. Hamza, call Tayyip Bey immediately, he is angry that you are acting like the people of İzmir. He is angry that you are doing things that don't fit. Let me just say this: 'The AKP mentality, to which Hamza Dağ belongs, is the one that could not tolerate the 'Hamza, call immediately' joke and had 4 young people taken into custody in a rush. This is imposition. What happens if 4 young people made a joke?"
