Following the investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), posters bearing the signature of the AKP Istanbul Provincial Organization were hung in advertising spaces that had come under trustee management, sparking public debate. The posters have now begun to be removed by the advertising company. The anti-IMM posters, which the AKP Istanbul Provincial Organization had hung on billboards rented through advertising companies that are owned by the municipality but came under trustee management following the investigation into the IMM, continue to remain on the agenda.

Regarding the controversial posters, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had announced in recent days that they would take the matter to the judiciary. Following this statement, it was learned that the company operating the advertising spaces in question decided to remove the posters, which were stated to contain propaganda against the IMM.

The developments have also brought about discussions regarding whether advertising spaces under trustee management can be used for political propaganda purposes.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The AKP Istanbul Provincial Organization hung a large advertising poster in an area right next to the Çağlayan Courthouse, less than two months before the first hearing of the "Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) case".

While an image of the IMM building in Saraçhane was used on the poster, it featured the phrases, "They said borrowing is treason. They increased the IMM's debt to 350 billion Turkish liras" and "It is coming out of your life."

The presence of the AKP Istanbul Provincial Organization logo on the poster drew attention.
