A new investigation has been launched into Ayşe Barım, a manager for famous actors who has recently been in the spotlight over allegations of monopolization in the industry.
Barım, who is alleged to have been among the planners of the Gezi Park protests, was detained on charges of "attempting to abolish the Republic of Turkey or to prevent it from performing its duties."
Following Barım's detention, actors Halit Ergenç, Bergüzar Korel, Mehmet Günsur, Ceyda Düvenci, Nejat İşler, Rıza Kocaoğlu, and Nehir Erdoğan testified as witnesses at the Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan as part of the investigation.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel has appointed a delegation regarding the Gezi investigation, which was initiated following Barım's detention and the summoning of several artists to testify.
The delegation, chaired by CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, includes High Disciplinary Board Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Turan Taşkın Özer, Trabzon Deputy Sibel Suiçmez, Muğla Deputy Gizem Özcan, and Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal.
It has been learned that the delegation will monitor the investigation process and provide legal support to the artists summoned to testify.
