The Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) marched from Istanbul starting on Monday, November 13, passing through Gebze, Kocaeli, Yalova, Bursa, Bilecik, and Eskişehir to reach Ankara under the slogan "Justice in Income, Justice in Taxation."

The members will hold a mass press statement in Ulus.

ÖZEL JOINS THE MARCH

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel took part in the DİSK march. Along with Özel, CHP Ankara Deputy Gamze Taşçıer also supported the march.

Participating in the DİSK march, Özel greeted the public and said the following:

"I respectfully salute DİSK, which objects to this injustice, and everyone who supports this struggle. In Turkey, 67 percent of taxes are collected as indirect taxes from the bread we eat and the water we drink. In other words, today in Turkey, money is being taken from the poor, the retirees, and the laborers who earn it. We object to this unjust tax system."

DİSK President Arzu Çerkezoğlu, who participated in the march, stated:

"We marched together with all my class brothers and sisters. Greetings to those who grow hope.

We marched for permanent staff status to be granted to all subcontracted workers, especially municipal workers, without any ifs or buts. We marched with those dismissed under Law No. 6196. We marched together with those demanding a gradual transition. The picture we are experiencing is not a coincidence. This country is governed by a mentality detached from workers, laborers, and rights. We work, we produce. We want what is our right. We will fight to the end until we get what is our right."
