CHP leader Özel travelled to Şuhut, where Atatürk planned the Great Offensive, and joined the march to Kocatepe held to mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Offensive. He made a statement ahead of the 14-kilometre walk.

The following is Özgür Özel's statement:

I have joined this march twice before and this will be my third time, but this time I have the joy of coming here as the party's leader.

You entrusted the Afyon Municipality to us, and I take great pride in that as well.

Our country is going through difficult days; we are all in revolt against every kind of injustice — there is no justice left, neither in our wallets nor in our courtrooms. Everyone's grievances are great...

The anxieties and concerns of workers, retirees, farmers, and young people are immense...

We are walking this road to save the country from all of this... Muharrem İnce, a son of our party, dissolved his party and joined ours — he is with us too, and we will walk this road together.

We have come to walk this road together with all democrats of Turkey.

Our founding father walked this road on 26 August and saved the country; inspired by him, we have launched a great march and we are determined to walk it together.
