Following the brawl that occurred during the extraordinary meeting at the TBMM regarding Can Atalay, TİP MP Ahmet Şık and AKP MP Alpay Özalan were issued reprimands. The General Assembly, which resumed after six breaks, is being presided over by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.

"I AM VERY ASHAMED"

Taking the floor in the General Assembly, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that he was very ashamed of what happened in Parliament today. In his speech, Özel said the following:

"I served as group deputy chairman in this Parliament for 9 years. There were many debates. However, the tension sometimes reaches a point where one needs to exert willpower. Otherwise, a situation like today's arises. I have seen many things in this hall, but I had not seen blood. I am very ashamed. I had not seen violence against women. I am very ashamed.

I consider your arrival to preside over the meeting in the back, your taking over the chairmanship of the meeting, and the stance you have displayed to be extremely important. From now on, as the CHP, we will support every initiative you take to ensure that there is neither foul language or insults, nor, under any circumstances, violence in the parliament."
