CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu had announced that, following the investigation launched after the sword-oath ceremony, notification had been served to Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu and Lieutenant İzzet Talip Akarsu regarding their referral to the High Disciplinary Board "with the intent of imposing a dismissal penalty from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK)."
ÖZEL: LIKE YOUR FEZ-WEARING MENTOR...
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made the following statements in a post on his social media account:
"It is unacceptable that Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, the top graduate of the Military Academy, and the other lieutenants who took an oath of allegiance to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk have been referred to the disciplinary board with a request for their expulsion.
Since when has expressing allegiance to Atatürk been considered a crime in this country? Those lieutenants are Atatürk's soldiers.
Were they supposed to say we are Trikoupis' soldiers?
Like your fez-wearing mentor who said 'I wish the Greeks had won'...
The political will must turn back from this grave error into which it has dragged the Turkish Armed Forces as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will be crushed under the weight of this decision before history."
