The 10-day screen blackout penalty issued by RTÜK on June 26 on the grounds that it "incited the public to hatred and enmity" has been served to Halk TV.
The channel's screens will be blacked out for 10 days.
With the lifting of the stay of execution for the 10-day screen blackout penalty imposed by RTÜK on Sözcü TV, both channels will be blacked out starting from midnight on July 8.
Reacting to RTÜK's decision, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel used the following expressions:
"The penalties imposed on Halk TV and Sözcü TV at the same time are not a simple broadcast suspension, but an effort to hide the truths that disturb the government. Attacking independent media is a common behavior that all autocrats who have lost touch with society learn from each other. However, those who darken their conscience for their own interests will not be able to drown this country in their own darkness. Because our people are not on the side of the March 19 Coup Plotters who shrink their bread and disrupt their peace, but on the side of the independent media that makes their own voice heard."
