Özel reacted to the lifting of certain additional customs duties applied to the US during the meeting between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump.
CHP Chairman Özel said, "It wasn't enough for Erdoğan to work for himself, it wasn't enough for him to work for the rich, and now he is leaving everything behind and working for Trump. He prepared a gift while going to Trump. Inside that package, he zeroed out the customs duties on everything from 225 Boeing aircraft to liquefied gas and even makeup products. There is tax on what you produce, but what comes from America remains cheap and sells out instantly. It is the biggest betrayal of Turkish production," he said.
