Özgür Özel's plan against a snap election leaks from the corridors

Striking new claims have emerged in Ankara's political corridors regarding the preparations for a new party by the elected CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and his team.

According to the claims, the efforts are not limited to the establishment of a new political party. A "backup party" option that already has the right to participate in elections is being kept ready against a possible snap election scenario.

TARGET OF ONE MILLION MEMBERS FOR THE NEW PARTY

According to information provided by journalist Murat Yetkin, one of the biggest obstacles facing the new party is meeting the necessary legal requirements to participate in elections in a short period of time. Furthermore, whether the current support for Özgür Özel will continue in the long term is also among the critical issues of the process.

According to Yetkin, Özel and his team expect approximately 1 million CHP members to resign and join the new party once the establishment petition is submitted to the Ministry of Interior.

On the other hand, it is stated that there are influential mayors who prefer to remain within the CHP and continue their political struggle under the party's umbrella.

ALTERNATIVE SCENARIO AGAINST THE POSSIBILITY OF A SNAP ELECTION

Another claim voiced in Ankara's corridors is that a party with the right to participate in elections is being kept ready. It is suggested that this preparation is largely complete.

According to the claim, in the event that the AKP and MHP reach a consensus with the CHP or the DEM Party to decide on a snap election, deputies could switch to this party that already has the eligibility to participate in elections. Thus, participation in the elections could be ensured without waiting for the newly established party to complete its electoral eligibility requirements.

Murat Yetkin wrote the following:

"Although, especially with the traffic accelerating during the 'Turkey without Terrorism' process and the DEM Party expressing sensitivity on this issue, the probability of the AK Party opening immunity files is low.

Another difficulty is how quickly the new party will complete the necessary conditions to enter the elections, and whether the current excitement of Özel's sympathizers will find expression in the form of lasting support. Özel and his team expect around 1 million CHP members to resign and switch to the new party as soon as the party's establishment petition is submitted to the Ministry of Interior. In contrast, the existence of influential mayors who want to stay in the CHP and continue the struggle is also known.

It is understood that the backup party efforts are also in the final stage. Against the possibility of the DEM Party being closed down, similar to the example of the BDP which had 2 deputies in Parliament, keeping a party in Parliament that has the right to enter elections against the possibility of the AK Party and MHP reaching an agreement with the DEM or CHP to decide on a snap election means that deputies can switch there when necessary."
