CHP Chairman Özgür Özel scolded a citizen who shouted the slogan “We are Mustafa Kemal’s soldiers” during his speech, saying, “I will say it when it is time for me to say it. Your job is to be there, my job is to be here. Do not interfere with my work.” Özel requested that the citizen be removed from the area.

Visiting the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed citizens in front of the municipality building.

What Özel said to the citizen who shouted the slogan “We are Mustafa Kemal’s soldiers” during his speech drew attention. Requesting that the citizen be removed from the area, Özel stated:

“I will say it when it is time for me to say it. Your job is to be there, my job is to be here. Do not interfere with my work. No one will say ‘well done’ to you just because you are doing this. I will say it when it is time for me to say it. Take this person away. Is there anyone who says otherwise, brother? If not, take him away and let him say it on the side. As for when I will say ‘We are Mustafa Kemal’s soldiers’… I will say it, you will not.”

DEPUTY CHAIRMAN EXPLAINS THE REASON FOR THE REACTION

The reason for this reaction by Özel, which became a topic of discussion, was explained by CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut.

Stating that the individual was constantly shouting loudly at Özgür Özel to “say we are Mustafa Kemal’s soldiers,” Bulut said:

“Even if the sound did not come through in the broadcast, he distracted both the crowd and the Chairman. For this reason, the situation was intervened in. Furthermore, the individual was not quite himself. We did not want the police to take legal action, but a background check (GBT) was requested for security purposes. The person did not even have identification on him.”

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S STATEMENT ON LIEUTENANTS

Özel, who reacted to the citizen shouting the slogan 'We are Mustafa Kemal's soldiers' during his speech in Muğla, had previously given the following reaction to the criticism and investigation of lieutenants for chanting this same slogan:

“If there is a lieutenant who does not say 'We are Mustafa Kemal's soldiers,' the security problem lies there. If we are graduating a single lieutenant who objects to saying 'I am Mustafa Kemal's soldier,' that is the sign that we are in trouble. That is why we all want to hear which word of the oath those who object are objecting to.”
