Özgür Özel speaks on 'potential snap election plan': 'There are now two CHPs'

Özel made statements regarding his new roadmap following the raid on the headquarters. Pointing out that "there are now two CHPs," Özel said that if a snap election were to occur, they would win with 60 percent of the vote.

Speaking to T24, CHP leader Özgür Özel said, "I didn't expect it to go this far. When you read the nullity ruling, you see that there is a terrible collaboration," noting that there are now two CHPs.

EXPLAINS SNAP ELECTION PLAN

"There are now two CHPs: the appointed CHP and the SCHP, meaning the elected CHP. We will not abandon the party," said Özel, explaining that if they were not there, the party would not even be able to pass the electoral threshold: "If we leave, if we say we are not here, they could receive less than 5 or 3 percent of the vote."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said the following regarding a potential snap election:

"We will fight to the end within the party against the nullity ruling, but no one should worry about the possibility of a snap election. We will nominate our presidential candidate and get elected with 60 percent of the vote. If there is interference in the CHP's list under those conditions... My biggest objection is this: the Palace has effectively shut down the CHP right now. How did it shut it down? If a judge appointed by the palace, rather than the delegates, is officially deciding who will manage the CHP, then the CHP has been shut down. We are fighting to reopen the CHP. The reopening is the moment the Congress Chair announces the results. That is when it will be opened. We are currently in an interim period. Appointed CHP, elected CHP. We have started a struggle for a new foundation to bring the ballot box back."

When asked, "Do you think they want you to leave and form a separate party? Will you do this?" Özel replied:

"The situation is exactly like this. I would very much like to hear the opposite. For example, if Mr. Kemal had come to reach a compromise, if he had declared that he would go to a congress quickly, we would have been open to any formula that would not put Mr. Kemal in a difficult position—even though there is no turning back in society after what they have done.

Including going to that congress arm-in-arm. In the handover at the previous congress, I said these things: if you are going to rent an office, let's rent it; if you are going to establish a foundation, let us support you.

Including the security guards' vehicles, etc. We were already paying for them until a year ago. A year ago, they started a fight and returned the vehicles they had. The party is in economic difficulty.

We told both our security guards and theirs to eat from the set menu rather than ordering from outside while in Ankara, because the bills were coming in high, and they started a fight over it."
