Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the detention of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat.
In a statement on his social media account, Özel said, "The detention of our Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat is a new link in the chain of lawlessness within the politicized justice system."
Özel used the following expressions:
"Detaining our Mayor, who would have come to give a statement if summoned, using FETÖ methods and trying to discredit him is a sign of weakness. We stand by our mayor, and we will fight together with our people to defeat this conspiracy."
