Özgür Özel to request a meeting with Erdoğan! The signal had been given

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had answered journalists' questions upon his return from Iraq. Sharing his assessments regarding constitutional regulations, Erdoğan had expressed his belief that the CHP would provide support.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, on the other hand, stated that they would meet soon, saying, "We are planning to meet with the President next week; we will request an appointment from him."

RESPONSE TO ERDOĞAN'S 'CONSTITUTION' CALL

Stating that the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is the ground for negotiation, Özel said, "However, he said he would convey certain demands regarding the constitution. Of course, the TBMM is the ground for negotiation. Leaders always talk to each other. The Speaker of the Parliament also said he would pay a visit. But for someone to say 'let's change the constitution,' what will you do with the constitution you are going to change? You change it to comply with it. Why don't you comply with the constitution you changed last time? Is a constitution changed so that it is not complied with?"

"If you are going to change the constitution, we first need to see that you comply with it," said Özel, continuing as follows:

"Not complying with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, not complying with the decisions of the Constitutional Court; crushing the Constitutional Court with a first-instance court, sending orders to the Parliament contrary to the Constitutional Court's decision from first-instance courts, and having it implemented—which constitution is that complying with? The constitution is being trampled underfoot."

Özel finally said the following:

"Of course, we will both discuss our agendas. Of course, there will be meetings between leaders. If you want to change something, first comply with the existing one so we can see it."
