In his speech at the parliamentary group meeting on October 15, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had called on Erdoğan and Bahçeli regarding the Republic Day Reception, stating, "This year, instead of holding the Republic Reception in that palace, which has been thrust like a dagger into the heart of the Atatürk Forest Farm despite Atatürk's will and all court rulings, come and hold it in the home of the nation, in Atatürk's home, at the Çankaya Mansion. Move that reception to the Çankaya Mansion, which we all accept and take pride in, and save this nation from the artificial tension and division you have created for 10 years."
AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, following the Central Executive Committee (MKYK) meeting on October 21, stated that the reception would take place at "the home of the nation, the Presidential Complex," and responded by saying, "Mr. Özel setting such a condition to attend these receptions has been a politically absurd approach."
ÖZEL WILL NOT ATTEND THE RECEPTION
The CHP leader, whose call did not receive a positive response, will not attend the reception to be held at the presidential palace at 19:00.
CHP'S OCTOBER 29 PROGRAM
Meanwhile, the CHP's October 29 Republic Day celebration program has been finalized.
Accordingly, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will attend the official ceremony to be held at Anıtkabir at 11:00. At 11:00, the CHP Ankara Provincial Presidency will lay a wreath at the Atatürk statue in Ulus Square.
The CHP will begin a march from the First Parliament to Anıtkabir at 12:00. CHP leader Özel will join the march along with CHP deputies, party executives, and mayors. Before the march begins, Özel is expected to address citizens in front of the First Parliament.
CELEBRATIONS WILL CONTINUE IN MANISA
Following the march, Özel is expected to travel to his hometown of Manisa to continue the 101st-anniversary celebrations there. At 20:00, Özel will attend the concert by Fazıl Say and Serenad Bağcan, organized by the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality.
