It has emerged that former IYI Party leader Meral Akşener filed a complaint with the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) against İbrahim Özkan, who previously served as the IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council and currently serves as an advisor to Ekrem İmamoğlu. It was learned that Akşener requested an investigation into Özkan's financial accounts.
Breaking his silence on this development to Can Coşkun from Korkusuz newspaper, İbrahim Özkan made harsh statements.
“There are no restrictions on my assets or accounts. We also learned about such a complaint petition from the press,” Özkan said, evaluating the situation. Recalling the roles he held within the IYI Party in the past, he expressed his reaction with the words: “I served as group deputy chairman for five years and as a founding district chairman for the IYI Party. When I look at the point reached today, I see those days as time wasted. Because, unfortunately, we saw too late that a person we believed in actually had a different agenda.”
Implying that he will speak more in the coming period, Özkan said, “When the day comes, we will also have a few words to say,” adding, “I have never spoken through abstract concepts; my speeches are based on concrete evidence. Those who know me, know this.”
