Parents of school attacker in Kahramanmaraş taken into custody
Uğur Mersinli, the father of 8th-grade student İsa Aras Mersinli, who carried out an armed attack on Ayser Çalık Secondary School in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş, and his mother have been taken into custody.

The armed attack carried out at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş has plunged Turkey into mourning. In the incident, 9 people, including 8 students and one teacher, lost their lives, while 13 others were injured.
Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer announced that the 8th-grade student who carried out the attack died during the incident. Regarding the student's death, Ünlüer stated, "He shot himself during the chaos. It is currently unknown whether it was for the purpose of suicide or if he shot himself during the confusion. We estimate that he took the weapons of his father, who is a former police officer. He arrived with 5 weapons and 7 magazines, and entered 2 classrooms."
Following the incident, a judicial process was also initiated. Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that an investigation into the attack was opened immediately. It was reported that 3 deputy chief public prosecutors, 6 prosecutors, 4 chief civil inspectors, and 4 chief police inspectors have been assigned to the investigation, and a publication ban has been issued regarding the file.
Uğur Mersinli, the father of the student who carried out the attack, İsa Aras Mersinli, was taken into custody within the framework of the ongoing investigation.
The attacker's mother, who is a teacher, was also taken into custody.
