Parliament's 'exorbitant price' regulation: Business closures on the agenda

Citizens wishing to protest high prices at restaurants and cafes have issued a boycott call on social media.
Citizens who want to show their reaction by not visiting restaurants and cafes have shared on their social media accounts that they will not eat out or place orders, complying with the boycott call covering the weekend (April 20-21).
BUSINESS CLOSURE PENALTIES ON THE AGENDA
While boycott calls are coming from social media, the TBMM has also taken action regarding exorbitant prices.
According to TRT, there are important legislative proposals expected in the Parliament General Assembly on Wednesday.
One of these proposals will be an amendment to the Commercial Code.
The proposal, which is expected to consist of approximately 20 articles, will also include a regulation regarding the increase of administrative fines imposed on businesses that engage in exorbitant price hikes.
Furthermore, the introduction of closure sanctions for businesses will also be discussed during the deliberations in Parliament.
